Derek Roberts is currently design manager for the renovation of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. His background includes 15 years of international professional practice and management in architecture, planning and strategy. Derek has held several local, state and national level leadership positions within the American Institute of Architects (AIA) where he founded and chaired several highly successful committees for young professionals.
He also launched Pecha Kucha Night Detroit, an International forum for young creatives to present innovative creative content, and established and chaired the committee to support the event into the future. He has taught as an adjunct professor at two respected universities. And he has spent the past four years working with a small group of creative professionals on an interactive mapping application for collaborative engagement in neighborhood development.
